Description
A Walk Through the Prayer Book – The 2019 Book of Common Prayer Explained introduces the reader to one of the youngest members of the Anglican family of Prayer Books – the 2019 Book of Common Prayer of the Anglican Church in North America. (You can find the book at anglicanhousepublishers.org) The ACNA Prayer Book is a member of a family of Prayer Books, classically defined by the Book of Common Prayer (1662) of the Church of England. The author takes us step by step through Daily and Sunday Worship: the Daily Office, the Canticles, the Great Litany and Decalogue, and the two Rites of the Holy Eucharist. He continues the journey through the Rites and Resources of the Church: Holy Baptism and Confirmation, the Pastoral Rites, the Psalter, the Ordinal, the Institution of a Rector and Consecration and Dedication of a Place of Worship, the Collects and Occasional Prayers, the Church Year with its Special Liturgies, Calendars and Lectionaries. He concludes by surveying the Doctrinal Foundations of the Anglican Church in North America.
