Description
Former prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith Cardinal Gerhard Müller guides you on a powerful personal retreat based on one that he has given to hundreds of priests and consecrated religious across the globe. In these life-changing pages, His Eminence will help you grow in union with God personally and find comfort in His love as you learn to discern and place your hope in the Holy Trinity.
Cardinal Müller deftly breaks open Sacred Scripture and the writings of theologians and philosophers in addressing misconceptions about the nature of God and divine revelation. Through his penetrating insights and counsel, you will find the enlightening horizon through which natural reason operates. As you begin to perceive and soak up God’s incarnate love and desire for intimacy with you, you will discover:
- How spiritual exercises are a remedy against feeling lost in a boundless universe
- The difference between authentic mysticism and an ego trip, and what true faith involves
- How to overcome low self-esteem and hopelessness and realize you are chosen by God
- What your response should be to God’s divine touch and His loving care for you
- Why belief in the Real Presence of Christ in the Holy Eucharist is central to our Faith
- The many ways in which God speaks to us in our language and how we should respond
In addition, you will learn the biblical basis for why sacramental grace is offered in person and for the teaching of the Real Presence of Christ in the Blessed Sacrament. You will also see the ways in which the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass connects to the sacrifice of Christ on the Cross, and why it is the most efficacious act we can perform on earth.
His Eminence also discourses on the role of grace and modern-day concerns, such as human dignity; freedom; the roles of bishops, priests, and laity; and how to approach ecumenical efforts. In all, he guides you in how to run the race, fight in the spiritual battle, and, ultimately, relish in your true identity as a child of God.
