Description

In “Be Inclusive,” a young student narrates his experience with Mia, the new girl at school who plays alone on the playground. Initially, the boy is unsure how to approach Mia and feels discouraged when Mia doesn’t respond. Seeking advice, the boy’s mother explains the concept of inclusivity, emphasizing that it means not leaving anyone out regardless of their appearance, abilities, or background. The book illustrates various aspects of diversity, including physical appearance, communication methods, beliefs, hobbies, origins, relationships, traditions, languages, and abilities. It emphasizes that celebrating differences makes our world more interesting and that everyone has value. The story concludes with the boy making an effort to befriend Mia by showing kindness and patience. As a result, Mia opens up, sharing her interests and experiences. The narrator realizes the importance of inclusivity and how it can lead to meaningful friendships and a more accepting world. The book uses the metaphor of a puzzle to convey that every individual is an essential piece in creating a beautiful, inclusive society.
